This session takes a closer look at what it still feels like to be a woman in hospitality, and how greater awareness of these dynamics can shape more thoughtful, supportive ways of communicating and working together.
BIOGRAPHY
Élise Hanson is a Toronto-based, award-winning bartender with over a decade of experience in hospitality. She currently serves as Bar Manager of Civil Works, a cocktail bar that quickly gained international recognition in its inaugural year, earning the Siete Misterios Best Cocktail Menu award in North America and a spot at #55 on North America’s 50 Best Bars.
She is known for creating thoughtful, creative cocktails paired with a warm, approachable style of hospitality, and is an advocate for mental health and sustainability in the industry.
In 2024, she was named Canada’s 100 Best Bartender of the Year, Foodism Toronto’s Mixology Icon, and Bombay Sapphire’s Most Imaginative Bartender at Tales of the Cocktail.
